Is BenAgent an AI agent?

BenAgent is the native Mac workspace for working with AI agents. It owns the focused request, local conversation, readiness, progress, and return surfaces on macOS; the connected runtime owns reasoning and execution.

Which agent connections are available today?

BenAgent currently provides guided connection paths for Hermes and OpenClaw. They are options inside BenAgent, not the product identity, and each runtime keeps control of its own models, tools, skills, and files.

Does BenAgent run AI models locally?

Not by itself. BenAgent sends the content you choose directly to the configured agent endpoint. Whether a model runs locally or through a remote provider depends on the runtime setup you control.

How does BenAgent reduce context switching?

It keeps the request, live status, reply, and supported background results close to the work already open on your Mac, so you do not need to make a separate chat workspace the center of every task.

Where do conversations and gateway tokens live?

Conversation records stay in local SwiftData. Optional provider-scoped gateway tokens are stored in macOS Keychain, and BenAgent adds no hosted relay between the app and your configured endpoint.

Does the agent endpoint have to be public?

No. A loopback endpoint is the simplest local setup. If you intentionally connect a remote runtime, keep it behind trusted private transport and the access controls owned by that runtime.
