Use BenAgent Quick Chat with Hermes and OpenClaw

Use BenAgent Quick Chat as a fast desktop entry point for Hermes and OpenClaw without changing runtime sessions or endpoint settings.

Quick Chat is the low-friction path for sending a short request from the Mac desktop to the currently selected BenAgent runtime. It is best for small questions, quick checks, and prompts where you want the answer now without opening a terminal.

Best Quick Chat use cases

  • Ask Hermes to summarize a pasted error message.
  • Ask OpenClaw to explain the next step in a local workflow.
  • Send a short status question to the active runtime session.
  • Verify that the configured local endpoint still works after setup or an update.

Before the first message

01

Choose the provider

Open BenAgent Settings or Get Started and select Hermes or OpenClaw. Quick Chat uses the selected provider.

02

Check runtime readiness

Confirm the runtime endpoint is configured, reachable on its trusted boundary, and BenAgent reports that the selected provider is ready.

03

Start with a no-tool prompt

The first prompt should be safe and small so setup problems are easy to read.

Reply with one short sentence confirming that the selected runtime is reachable from BenAgent. Do not use tools.

Prompt patterns that work well

  • Summarize this in five bullets and ask one clarifying question if needed.
  • Turn this rough note into a concise reply I can paste into Slack.
  • Find likely causes for this error, ordered from most likely to least likely.
  • Draft a terminal-safe checklist, but do not run commands.

When Quick Chat is the wrong surface

Use a saved Prompt Inventory item for repeated workflows, Sleep mode for later context-aware follow-up, and runtime cron delivery for scheduled work. Quick Chat is best when the request is immediate and small.

Ready to bring agent-first work to your Mac?

Install BenAgent, connect Hermes or OpenClaw, verify the endpoint and its access boundary, then delegate one safe result you can review before relying on longer work.
